Between normality and taboo: invisible violence against women
Almost every 4th woman experiences physical or sexual violence from a partner or ex-partner in her life, and almost every 7th woman is forced into sexual acts. Violence against women is a serious violation of human rights with a high number of unreported cases – even in Germany. The “Saxony Victimization Study” (VisSa Study) sheds light on the extent of domestic, sexualized violence and stalking in Saxony and the dynamics behind it.
Study director Dr. Heinz-Jürgen Voß presents the results, shows the effects on those affected and highlights the inadequate support provided by the help system and the police. In the context of social developments over the last 15 years, measures for the prevention and intervention of violence and the promotion of gender self-determination are explained.
